I'm rubbish when it comes to keeping this up to date. It's not as if I've much to report. My garden is coming along nicely, Fawkes has come in nicely to his plumage as he always does, and I have spent a fair bit of time in the palace library. Otherwise, I've mostly taken to experimenting with potions and spells to occupy my time. I might fill this journal a bit more frequently if I used it to share my notes, but I highly doubt anyone is interested in trying to sift though pages of my nonsense.
Kingsley, I've found the Sword in the Stone, The Ill-Made Knight, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight for us to read.

It is good to have classes again. Next time the King decides to cancel them I think I may just invite the students to my home for lessons if they are interested. It seems counter productive to stop as often as we do and not have steady schedules. It helps me as well. Too much free time isn't good when there are so few things to do. I will get myself in trouble. I've started a little garden a while back, and now have some food I've grown myself though.

That was unexpected. The King does like to keep things interesting, doesn't he?

filtered against children;
Murders and then fires in the middle of the night so suddenly. Perhaps the king is tiring of his little experiment and those involved. Maybe it is a test, a punishment for 'crimes' that we are not aware of, or a different sort of test all together to see how we will react. Maybe it was not carried out on the King's orders at all, and we have someone among our numbers who needs to be dealt with. Too many questions, and I do wonder about the steps being taken to find out who is responsible. While I assume these journals are being monitored, I believe I will have to write to the king to get any sort of response from him.

I do hope no one was hurt in the fire.

I've been appointed the position of Transfigurations professor, which is wonderful. It will be nice to teach again, and as much as I enjoyed the weeks of free time this will help keep me a little more occupied. I'll have to see where all the children are in their studies because it seems they've been going at a rather slow pace one can only hope they're all as eager to learn as Miss Granger. Being allowed into the palace without needing a special reason is lovely. I've taken to exploring it, but there is surprisingly little of interest. I ought to spend more time in the classroom to be sure it is well equipped. Later this afternoon, I suppose. I would very much like to meet all of the other professors and introduce myself as well. I always found a nice chat in the evenings with the other teachers over dinner was a good way to end the day.

I'm told you will be assisting me with the Transfigurations class. I would very much like to meet and introduce myself in person before classes begin, and discuss the lessons with you so we are on the same page when we begin. Perhaps we could have lunch soon?

I'm sure Miss Hermione has already informed you that she requested a few extra lessons from me as the palace teachings have not been challenging enough. I would be more then happy to help her. I believe you are her guardians, and thought it best to see when you were okay with my stopping by. I thought I might begin this weekend at the palace where both of you could see what we are going over. She wished to learn more in transfigurations and ancient runes.

A new years masquerade sounds lovely. It has been years since I attended a formal dance. Finding a costume will be interesting. I can only assume a selection will be provided some where in town as they are required. I think I will try for a phoenix theme. Red for the robes, gold colored trimming, a red feathered mask. And it will be nice to finally get a look at this palace. Perhaps even see our self proclaimed King, however unlikely as it seems.

I finally finished the basic structure of my little cottage. It's a sweet little thing. There are a few last touches that I could use some help with though before I start actually fixing up the inside to look like a home. Terry, if you could come by, I could use an extra pair of hands.
Also, Christmas is apparently only a few days away. Strange since I was taken shortly before the start of summer but no matter. I'd be happy to help anyone cut down a tree for the occasion.

As the subject of children and guardianship has been addressed not with the best results but it will do their education as well, it would seem my plans for a school building were no longer necessary. I do wonder, if any of the children would be so kind to humor me, what it is they are being taught? Of course, that is not to say that I would be against helping anyone who was interested in continuing their education.
At any rate, I have been building a house instead. It's becoming a rather charming project, occupying much of my time. I am making very good time with it as well; all it needs is the glass work and a roof. Furnishings as well, but that will come later. After building a house, how much harder could a bed and some chairs be?
I'm getting settled in this place, but my search for a way out hasn't stopped. It simply hasn't produced many results. Escaping this town is limited to the fields surrounding it, and no magic I have tried as made any dent so far. I've been looking into magic surrounding the subject of time, but it is complex enough to require quite a bit of time, and it would seem the text on it here is limited so I have to draw mostly from memory. The easiest option might just be going after this king, but promoting violence, especially when tensions are running so high already...

I have decided on dinner, found the alcohol, and saw a charming white dress in the shops. I have gotten wrapped up in building, however, so forgive me for being a touch distracted lately and taking so long. I would like to finish the window fittings if you wouldn't mind waiting a little longer? Sunday, perhaps?
